D23 Just Changed the Future of Walt Disney World

The Future of Disney World Just Got Even More Exciting!

If you thought Walt Disney World already had enough magic, D23 2026 just proved there is so much more on the horizon. The latest announcements gave us a closer look at some of the biggest projects coming to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Here are the Disney World updates you will want to know about if a future Disney vacation is on your wish list.

Magic Kingdom Is Getting Wickedly Fun

Magic Kingdom may be getting one of its biggest additions yet with the newly named Villains Land. Disney revealed more details about the land, including a thrilling Maleficent inspired coaster and a second attraction called the Mirror Realm, where the Magic Mirror will take guests into a world filled with Disney Villains. The land is expected to be massive, with its scale compared to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, giving guests plenty of space to explore, dine, shop, and embrace their mischievous side. But that is not all for Magic Kingdom. Piston Peak National Park, inspired by the world of Cars, also received a closer look, including a first glimpse at its second attraction.

EPCOT and Animal Kingdom Have Big Changes Ahead

Over at EPCOT, one of the park’s most iconic attractions is getting ready for its next chapter. Spaceship Earth will receive its first major update in nearly two decades, expanding its story to focus more broadly on human connection while keeping the optimism that makes the attraction so beloved. Even better, Figment and Dreamfinder are getting ready for a brand-new journey into imagination. At Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest fans have another reason to celebrate because the legendary Yeti will once again roar to life, while Tropical Americas continues to take shape with new details about the upcoming Encanto attraction and Indiana Jones experience.

Hollywood Studios Is Going Monstrous

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also getting a major dose of Pixar magic with Monstropolis, the upcoming area inspired by Monsters, Inc. D23 offered guests a closer look at the creative direction for the new land, including the neighborhoods, colorful monster inspired details, and the world being created around Mike, Sulley, and the citizens of Monstropolis. For guests who love immersive lands where you can step directly into a favorite movie, this is one to keep an eye on.

Celebrating the Newest Disney Legends!

D23 also celebrated some of the incredible people who have helped shape the Disney magic we know and love by welcoming a new class of Disney Legends. This year’s honorees include Bob Iger, Dwayne Johnson, Anne Hathaway, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Alan Tudyk, Jerry Bruckheimer, Susan Egan, Eric Goldberg, Kim Irvine, Chris Berman, and the Jonas Brothers, recognizing their lasting contributions to Disney storytelling, entertainment, animation, and experiences. From beloved Disney characters and unforgettable movies to music, theme parks, and behind-the-scenes creativity, each Legend has left their own special mark on the Disney story. It was a wonderful reminder that Disney magic is not just about the places we visit, but also about the talented people who bring those worlds to life.

Lin-Manuel Miranda accepts his Legends Award, but of course, he couldn’t just give a speech. Watch as he does what he does best and turns the moment into a song!
