For their fall break escape, the Harrop family traded their school schedules for sunshine, ocean breezes, and family memories at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun. With its stunning beachfront views and relaxed atmosphere, this resort offered just the right balance, not too big, not too small, and absolutely perfect for families.
Cabanas, Ocean Views & Family Time
Each day, the Harrops reserved a beach or poolside cabana—complete with food and drink service, a mini facial, and fresh coconuts. It became their go-to spot for lounging between dips in the pool and ocean. The resort’s layout made everything convenient, and even though one of the big beaches was public and a bit of a trek from the pools, there was always a smaller, shallow beach nearby for quick swims and sandcastle breaks.
Their two-story suite upgrade was a highlight and gave the family extra space to spread out. From early morning buffets at Moonstruck to late-night desserts at the sweets shop, the resort’s food options kept everyone happy. The variety impressed even the pickiest eaters, with incredible vegetarian options and kids’ menus everywhere.
Dolphin Encounters & Memorable Moments
The family’s dolphin experience was a favorite memory, with the boys grinning ear to ear as they learned about and interacted with the dolphins up close. While the experience itself was fantastic, Kristin noted that photo packages were pricey and suggested future travelers plan for that in their budget.
Evenings were spent enjoying live shows and family dinners—especially at the Italian restaurant, where the garlic bread pizza with dipping oils was so delicious they returned a second night!.
